Emerson Network Power Consolidates Advanced Protection Technologies Surge Protectors into ASCO® Power Product Line

May 02, 2016

Offers customers single source for all their critical power management requirements

Florham Park, N.J., [May 2, 2016] — Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the world's leading provider of critical infrastructure for information and communications technology systems, today announced it is consolidating its entire portfolio of Advanced Protection Technologies (APT) surge products into the ASCO® Power product line.

Surge protection products manufactured by APT, which was acquired by Emerson in 2013, now will bear the ASCO product brand. APT operations will remain headquartered in Clearwater, Florida.

"We're consolidating to the ASCO brand to improve the customer experience through the synergy of both businesses' technology support and service capabilities," reported Andy Malcolm, APT vice president and general manager, for Emerson Network Power. APT employees also will benefit by being part of a larger business with the deep resources required to fully support employees as they help customers solve their surge protection needs.

ASCO surge protection technologies help avert downtime resulting from grid irregularities or electrical disturbances, thus protecting sensitive equipment. Emerson's ASCO portfolio now encompasses power transfer switches, paralleling control switchgear, fire pump controllers, load banks and surge protection devices.

Building the breadth and depth of this unmatched product technology is part of an overall business strategy to offer the market a single source of a range of electrical products and systems. Customers now can capitalize on a one company, one brand solution for all their critical power management requirements.

The overall portfolio satisfies requirements for both general purpose use and power reliability and data applications that demand business continuity. The consolidation of APT follows the integration of Avtron® and Froment® load bank systems within the ASCO product brand earlier this year.

Improving the experience of customers buying APT surge protection devices includes incorporating ASCO customer-centric processes and tools, such as the ASCO Customer Care center and the ASCO Power University into the day-to-day operations.

Customers also will benefit from a heritage of ASCO innovation in power technology, engineering, manufacturing, support and service that will reinforce ongoing surge product development. ASCO market leadership, which has helped satisfy the evolving needs of power switching and controls customers for more than a century, will strengthen the presence of surge protection devices.

For its part, APT provides its channel management best practices, a world-class testing laboratory to help educate engineers about surge protection dynamics and engineering seminars that offer continuing education credits.

Consolidating sales resources will provide customers with a more complete product portfolio. The expanded network will simplify buying ASCO products..
